The Highlights

In this module, you learned about the technology "know how" and price point options for eCoaching. Technology "know how" needs are relatively simple and straightforward -especially in today's digital world. Price points vary, ranging from high to low cost options. eCoaching through traditional bug-in-ear (BIE) occurs onsite, but advances in online technology now allow the device to be used by an eCoach who is offsite (i.e., located remotely).

Below are a few questions to consider when determining what eCoaching technology offers the best fit for your school personnel.

  • Do school personnel have reliable wireless access in the school building? If the coach is located offsite, does he or she have reliable wireless access?
  • Do school personnel use Mac, PC, or differing platforms?
  • Will coaches be located onsite or offsite?
  • What is your total technology budget?
  • What type of technology support do school personnel have access to at the school and district levels?

The questions above will allow you to choose the best technology for your coaching needs. Remember, several state of the art technology options exist, and there is a price point to fit every budget.
