Next year, all school district personnel participating in North Carolina's State Improvement Project (NC SIP): Improving Instruction for Students with Disabilities (www.ncsip.org/) will be required to provide ongoing coaching to teachers. School personnel must document the coaching formats used and the number of coaching hours provided to each teacher. Dedicated to excellence for all students, the faculty and staff at Jacobs Elementary School are proud to be part of NC SIP.
After conducting extensive planning and research, the leadership team members have chosen eCoaching (formerly referred to as virtual coaching) via online bug-in-ear technology as the best option to support the development and maintenance of the school's ongoing coaching program. The curriculum facilitator at Jacobs, Mrs. Kay Harper, knows that technology can be very expensive. Given concerns over current state and national economic climates, Kay and the team members are committed to finding the most cost effective option available. To help offset the cost of purchasing this new technology, Kay along with members of the leadership team would like to write a grant to secure funds. They realize there are high and low cost options to consider and decide to create a table, illustrating the various price points and features. Doing so will allow team members to compare the options and secure input before Kay submits the grant proposal.
The goal of this module is to describe the various technology "know how" needed and options available needed for eCoaching.
